Cookie Policy
Last updated: 23 May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Aeovio uses cookies and similar technologies on the Aeovio website and customer portal. It supplements (and should be read with) our Privacy Policy.
This Cookie Policy is published to satisfy APP 5 (notification of collection) at the point cookies are first set, alongside our cookie-consent banner.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website operator.
We also use similar technologies (such as local storage and pixels) for related purposes. Where this policy refers to "cookies", it includes those similar technologies unless the context indicates otherwise.
Cookies can be:
- First-party (set by aeovio.com.au) or third-party (set by another domain we have integrated, such as an analytics provider);
- Session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a defined period);
- Essential (needed for the site to function) or non-essential (for analytics, marketing, personalisation).
2. The cookies we use
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the Services to function. They cannot be turned off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take (such as logging in, setting preferences, or filling in forms). You can block them in your browser settings, but parts of the site will not work.
| Cookie name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | aeovio.com.au | Maintain your authenticated session in the portal | 7 days |
| cookie_consent | aeovio.com.au | Remember your cookie preferences so we don't re-ask | 1 year |
2.2 Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it. We only set them after you give consent through the cookie banner.
| Cookie name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated identifier | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Stores session state for the relevant Google Analytics 4 property | 2 years |
We have configured Google Analytics 4 with IP-address anonymisation and have not enabled advertising-personalisation features.
2.3 Marketing cookies
We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If we add any in future, we will update this policy and ask for consent through the cookie banner before they are set.
3. Cookie-consent banner
When you first visit the website, you will see a cookie-consent banner that lets you:
- accept all cookies;
- reject all non-essential cookies; or
- manage your preferences by category.
Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because they are required for the site to function. Analytics and any other non-essential cookies are only set after you give consent.
Your choice is remembered for 12 months via the cookie_consent cookie. You can change your preferences at any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the website footer.
4. Managing cookies
In addition to the consent banner, you can:
- delete cookies through your browser settings;
- block cookies on a per-site basis through your browser settings;
- use private/incognito browsing mode to prevent persistent cookies from being stored.

5. Australian context
While Australia does not have a direct equivalent of the EU "PECR" cookie regime, our cookie banner and this policy are designed to:
- provide clear notice at the point of collection consistent with APP 5 (notification of the collection of personal information);
- obtain consent for analytics cookies before they are set;
- be transparent about the categories of cookies, who sets them, and how long they last.
Personal information collected through cookies (for example, IP addresses processed by analytics) is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material changes (for example, adding a new category of cookie) will be notified through the cookie banner and a "last updated" date on this page.
